F. J. Nkengasong

F. J. Nkengasong is the author of the debut novel, Respect Yourself, published in March 2021. Her inspiration to write Respect Yourself came after she could not find any novels written from the perspective of a young African child who immigrates to the United States. Specifically, she wanted to read a book that highlighted the battle of identities that such a child goes through not only being black in America, but also African. As a result, Respect Yourself was born.
